# SlideScript Connector (MCP)

SlideScript turns PDF slide decks into timed, word-for-word speaking scripts. The SlideScript connector lets AI apps use it from chat: upload slides, generate a script, show it slide by slide, edit slides (edits sync to the website), refine with Scout, open it on slidescript.live and download TXT, DOCX or PDF. Same account and credits as the website.

Human-readable page: https://www.slidescript.live/connectors

## For AI agents

- MCP server URL: https://www.slidescript.live/api/mcp
- Transport: Streamable HTTP
- Auth: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE; clients identify themselves with a Client ID Metadata Document or dynamic client registration (discovery via /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource). No API keys.
- The person signs in with Google and clicks Allow on the SlideScript screen themselves. An agent must not approve it for them.
- Buying credits is done by the person at https://www.slidescript.live/pricing.

### Steps for an agent connecting SlideScript for its person

1. Use the connector URL above as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP). No API key is needed.
2. In the person's AI app, open its connector / MCP / plugin settings and add a custom connector with that URL (see the app's guide on this page).
3. When the app opens the SlideScript sign-in page, hand control to the person: they sign in with Google and click Allow on the “Connect to SlideScript” screen themselves. Do not click Allow on their behalf.
4. Confirm it worked by calling get_account_status (it returns their plan and credits).
5. To add slides, call prepare_upload. If your app shows cards, let the person use the card. If it can't show cards but you have a terminal, run the curl command in prepare_upload's reply with the person's PDF or PPTX, then check get_upload_status (confirmed working in Grok Bot). With neither, ask the person to upload at slidescript.live and continue with their saved script.
6. Ask the person before generating — each generation uses one of their script credits. Buying credits is done by the person on slidescript.live/pricing.

### Tools

- `get_account_status` — Shows the person's SlideScript plan and remaining script credits.
- `prepare_upload` — Starts an upload. Apps that show cards get the upload card (always prefer it there). The reply also carries a one-time, 15-minute upload link and a ready-to-run curl command for apps without cards but with a terminal (PDF or PPTX, up to 5 files of 3.5MB; the finished deck at most 3.5MB). Free.
- `get_agent_upload_link` — Optional: a fresh one-time upload link for a pending upload (the same link prepare_upload's reply already carries).
- `get_upload_status` — Says whether the uploaded deck arrived and how many slides it has.
- `generate_script` — Starts writing a timed speaking script for an uploaded deck. Uses one script credit.
- `get_job_status` — Reports progress of a generation and, when done, the script id.
- `cancel_generation` — Stops a generation that is stuck or no longer wanted.
- `list_my_scripts` — Lists the person's saved scripts, newest first, with their ids.
- `get_deck_context` — Reads a script slide by slide (with slide images where the plan includes them).
- `open_slide_card` — Shows a script one slide at a time with Previous / Next (apps with full support).
- `update_slide_script` — Replaces one slide's words; the change also appears on the website.
- `refine_slide` — Rewrites one slide with SlideScript's own engine, following an instruction.
- `consult_scout` — Asks Scout, the presentation coach, about one slide.
- `save_script` — Saves a chat-made script to the person's account (My Scripts).
- `get_script_page_link` — Gives the link that opens the script on slidescript.live for typing edits.
- `get_download_link` — Gives a short-lived link to download the latest version as TXT, DOCX or PDF.

## How to add it, per app

### Claude (web, desktop and mobile) — Full support (cards shown in chat)

Plan: Any Claude plan. Free accounts can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it first under Organization settings → Connectors.

1. Open claude.ai (or the Claude desktop app) and go to Customize → Connectors.
2. Click “+ Add”, then “Add custom connector”.
3. Name it SlideScript and paste the connector URL above. Click Add.
4. Click Connect. Sign in to SlideScript with Google, then click Allow on the “Connect to SlideScript” screen (it shows your email and that it will be sent to claude.ai).
5. On mobile, add it on the web or desktop first — it then appears in the Claude mobile app automatically.

Check it worked: In a new chat, ask “What’s my SlideScript plan?” — a SlideScript card with your plan appears.

### ChatGPT — Full support (cards shown in chat)

Plan: Custom connectors use ChatGPT’s developer mode on the web, available on paid plans (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu — workspace admins may need to allow it).

1. On chatgpt.com, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
2. Create a new app (custom MCP server), name it SlideScript and paste the connector URL. Choose OAuth for authentication.
3. Sign in to SlideScript with Google and click Allow on the “Connect to SlideScript” screen.
4. In a chat, turn the SlideScript app on from the tools / apps menu.

Check it worked: Ask “List my saved SlideScript scripts” — your scripts appear with their ids.

### Grok (grok.com and the Grok apps) — Full support (cards shown in chat)

Plan: Connectors are available to all Grok users. On Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin adds the connector first: console.x.ai → your team → Grok Business → Connectors → “+ Add Connector” → Other → paste the connector URL. Members then connect their own accounts at grok.com/connectors.

1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
2. Click “New Connector”, then select “Custom” (“Add your own custom connector”).
3. Enter SlideScript as the Name and the connector URL above as the Server URL, then click “Add Connector”.
4. Grok opens the SlideScript sign-in in a popup window (allow popups for grok.com if your browser blocks it). Sign in with Google and click Allow on the “Connect to SlideScript” screen — it names the app as Grok and says it will be sent to grok.com.

Check it worked: In a Grok chat, ask “What’s my SlideScript plan?” — a SlideScript card appears with your answer.

### Google Gemini app — Text only (no in-chat cards)

Plan: Personal Google accounts, 18+, in the US, in English. Work or school accounts can’t add custom apps yet.

1. On gemini.google.com, open Settings → Connected Apps.
2. Under “Custom apps”, choose “Add a custom app”.
3. Paste the connector URL and click Next, then sign in to SlideScript and click Allow.
4. The app also works in the Gemini mobile app once added on the web.

Uploading: this app shows text, not cards, and has no terminal — upload new decks at https://www.slidescript.live and continue with the saved script in the chat.

Check it worked: Ask “List my saved SlideScript scripts”.

### Grok Bot (desktop and iOS) — Text + uploads (no in-chat cards; terminal uploads confirmed in a real test)

Plan: Grok Bot is included with Grok’s Premium, Super and Ultra plans, Teams and Enterprise, and with eligible Cursor plans; it signs in with your Cursor account. xAI’s docs cover catalog apps but don’t yet document custom connectors; the steps below follow how the Bot handles a custom server today and may change.

1. Easiest: just ask your Bot. Send it exactly: “Add a custom MCP server called SlideScript at https://www.slidescript.live/api/mcp”.
2. The Bot asks you to confirm — choose “Add it”.
3. A connect card appears — choose “Authorize”. Your browser opens the SlideScript sign-in.
4. Sign in with Google and click Allow. The SlideScript screen will likely name the app as Cursor — that is expected: Grok Bot uses your Cursor account to sign in to connectors.
5. SlideScript then appears under Connect apps → Your plugins. You can attach it in a chat by typing @.

Note: Uploading works: tested in a real Grok Bot chat, which uploaded a 33-slide deck from its own computer, wrote the script and downloaded the DOCX — no browser needed. SlideScript’s cards don’t show in Grok Bot, so everything appears as text. All your Grok Bots share one computer, so once connected, any of your Bots can use your SlideScript scripts and credits. Disconnect anytime.

Check it worked: Ask your Bot “What’s my SlideScript plan?”.

### Cursor — Full support (cards shown in chat)

Plan: Any Cursor plan.

1. Open (or create) ~/.cursor/mcp.json — or .cursor/mcp.json in a project — and add the entry below.
2. Save. Cursor shows SlideScript under its MCP servers with a sign-in prompt — sign in and click Allow.

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "slidescript": { "url": "https://www.slidescript.live/api/mcp" }
  }
}
```

Check it worked: In Agent chat, ask “What’s my SlideScript plan?”.

### VS Code (GitHub Copilot) — Full support (cards shown in chat)

Plan: Copilot in VS Code, agent mode. Your organisation may restrict MCP servers.

1. Open the Command Palette and run “MCP: Add Server”.
2. Choose “HTTP (HTTP or Server-Sent Events)”, paste the connector URL and name it slidescript.
3. VS Code opens a browser to sign in — sign in to SlideScript and click Allow (the screen says “an app on this computer”).

Check it worked: In Copilot Chat (Agent mode), ask “What’s my SlideScript plan?”.

### Mistral Le Chat — Text only (no in-chat cards)

Plan: Custom connectors are in beta on Le Chat.

1. Open the Connectors page and click “+ Add Connector”.
2. Choose the “Custom MCP Connector” tab and paste the connector URL.
3. Click Connect, sign in to SlideScript and click Allow.

Uploading: this app shows text, not cards, and has no terminal — upload new decks at https://www.slidescript.live and continue with the saved script in the chat.

Check it worked: Ask “What’s my SlideScript plan?”.

### Claude Code — Text only (no in-chat cards)

Plan: Any Claude Code setup.

1. Run this in your terminal:
2. Then start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose slidescript and sign in. Click Allow in the browser.

```
claude mcp add --transport http slidescript https://www.slidescript.live/api/mcp
```

Uploading: this app shows text, not cards, but it has a terminal, so it can upload a new deck with get_agent_upload_link (a one-time upload link and a curl command).

Check it worked: Ask “list my saved SlideScript scripts”.

### Gemini CLI — Text only (no in-chat cards)

Plan: Any Gemini CLI setup.

1. Run this in your terminal:
2. Then, inside Gemini CLI, run /mcp auth slidescript and sign in. Click Allow in the browser.

```
gemini mcp add --transport http slidescript https://www.slidescript.live/api/mcp
```

Uploading: this app shows text, not cards, but it has a terminal, so it can upload a new deck with get_agent_upload_link (a one-time upload link and a curl command).

Check it worked: Ask “list my saved SlideScript scripts”.

### Grok Build (CLI) — Text only (no in-chat cards)

Plan: Any Grok Build setup.

1. Run this in your terminal:
2. The first time Grok Build uses SlideScript, your browser opens the SlideScript sign-in — sign in and click Allow. (Inside the TUI you can also open /mcps and press i to sign in.)

```
grok mcp add --transport http slidescript https://www.slidescript.live/api/mcp
```

Uploading: this app shows text, not cards, but it has a terminal, so it can upload a new deck with get_agent_upload_link (a one-time upload link and a curl command).

Check it worked: Run grok mcp doctor slidescript, or ask “list my saved SlideScript scripts”.

### xAI API (remote MCP tool) — Not available yet

Plan: The xAI API’s remote MCP tool connects with a fixed API token in a header, with no sign-in screen. SlideScript accounts don’t have personal API tokens yet, so this isn’t available. Use Grok, Grok Bot or Grok Build instead.

### Microsoft Copilot — Not available yet

Plan: The consumer Copilot app has no way to add a custom connector yet. Businesses can add it through Copilot Studio (Tools → Add a tool → New tool → Model Context Protocol, OAuth with dynamic discovery) or a Microsoft 365 admin.

## FAQ

**Is it safe?** Yes. You sign in with Google on slidescript.live itself, and you see exactly which app is asking and where your sign-in will be sent before you click Allow. The AI app never sees your password. The connector can only reach your own scripts, and you can disconnect it at any time from the AI app’s connector settings.

**Does it use my credits?** Generating a script uses one script credit, exactly like on the website. Reading, editing, saving, opening and downloading scripts uses none. Refine and Scout follow your plan’s usual allowances.

**Which AI apps work?** Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Cursor and VS Code show SlideScript’s cards (upload, progress, slide-by-slide). Gemini, Le Chat, Grok Bot, Grok Build, Claude Code and Gemini CLI work in text: you can list, read, edit, open and download your scripts. Of those, the apps with a terminal can also upload a new deck with a one-time upload link — confirmed in Grok Bot, and built the same way for Claude Code, Gemini CLI and Grok Build. In Gemini and Le Chat, upload on slidescript.live and then carry on in the chat. The consumer Microsoft Copilot app and the xAI API can’t use it yet.

**Can I edit by hand?** Yes. Ask your AI app for the SlideScript link and it opens the same script on slidescript.live, where you can type edits yourself. Edits made on the website and in the chat change one and the same script.

**My AI app says a SlideScript tool is missing** If your AI app says a SlideScript tool is missing, disconnect and reconnect the connector to refresh its tool list. AI apps remember the list of tools from when you first connected, so a tool we add later can stay hidden until you reconnect (or restart the app). Uploading never depends on a new tool: the upload reply itself carries everything an app needs.

**What do I paste?** Just this address: https://www.slidescript.live/api/mcp. No API key is needed — you sign in with Google the first time.
